ACEA 2008 specifications

In December, ACEA (the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association) updated its engine oil sequences for passenger cars and heavy-duty trucks. The sequences cover three classes of engine oils: A/B for gasoline and light-duty diesel engines; C for gasoline and light-duty diesel engines equipped with after-treatment emissions control systems; and E for heavy-duty diesel engines. Within each class are a number of categories each tailored to match a specific manufacturers engine technology or duty cycle. The test sequences represent a significant increase in complexity and test cost. Full details can be found in July/August edition of Lubes 'n' greases.
